Audio/Visual Department

With something for everyone in the family, the Audio Visual department offers a wide variety of media for entertainment and educational purposes. There are non-fiction titles which cover everything from self-help, exercise instruction and documentaries. These, along with new releases, classic favorites, and television series are offered on VHS and/or DVD. Also available are music CDs, Playaways and audio books for your listening pleasure, as well as Wii games to keep your mind and body active. We have ebooks in a variety of formats compatible with Nooks, iPads, and other digital devices.

Educational Videos

For students and homeschooling parents, we have compiled a list of the videos available in the A/V department grouped by subject. They are in both the children's non-fiction and the adult non-fiction sections. Please remember that they are filed under their respective Dewey Decimal numbers and not by title. If you have any questions, the personnel at the video counter are equipped with this list and have the knowledge to help you find the film you are looking for.

New Year, New Projects!

January is a good time to settle into your warm and cozy home and start some new projects, so why not head back to some of the traditions of our grandmothers! The Homestead Blessings DVDs -- hosted by the West Ladies: Jasmine, CeCe, Vicki, and Hannah -- give step-by-step instructions to recreate some memories of days gone by.

Remember stepping into grandmother's house and smelling the mouth-watering aroma of freshly baked bread? Homestead Blessings: The Art of Bread Making features whole wheat bread, cinnamon rolls, classic southern cornbread, and many more.

The warmest thing you can find on a cold winter's night is a homemade quilt. Snuggled inside you are wrapped in its warmth, and also wrapped by the love that was poured into it. Why not share this feeling with someone by making a quilt of your own! Homestead Blessings: The Art of Quilting gives you several projects and teaches you how to make a keepsake for your own family.

Have you ever wondered how hard it is to make soap? The West Ladies show us that it's really quite easy. In the Homestead Blessings: The Art of Soap Making, the different ways to make soap are demonstrated. From simple oatmeal bar soaps to decorative soaps and much more, they show how to create meaningful gifts that will last all year. Stock up on ingredients and learn that making soap isn't as difficult as you might think.

Blu-ray Movies Now Available

The A/V department is now purchasing select titles on Blu-ray disc. In addition to being played in blu-ray players, these discs can be used with PlayStation 3s and computers equipped with a blu-ray player. They cannot be played on a regular DVD player.

We only have a few titles available so far but will be getting more in the future. We have created a bookbag with Blu-ray titles and will add new titles to it as they arrive, so check back later for more.
